Burning Ordinance

April 13, 2022

With the arrival of spring, residents will be cleaning up their yards and accumulating yard waste. The Town is offering and encouraging residents to use the yard waste collection service and not burn their leaves and brush. Smoke from the fires do pose a health and quality of life issue for neighbors and oftentimes the entire neighborhood. If residents chose to burn leaves and brush, the Town does have a Burning Ordinance in place. A burning permit can be acquired from the Algoma Fire Department for larger burns. In addition, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources does limit burning when the conditions are not safe.
