The construction of the Irvine Detention Pond is moving along quickly at the SE corner of Omro Road and N. Oakwood Road. This detention pond is necessary to meet the Town’s stormwater management and water quality requirements. The pond was substantially completed by mid July. The excavated materials (clay and topsoil) was piled near the site to avoid conflicts with the contractors working on Omro Road. The clay pile will remain until needed for future development. It will be dressed with topsoil and seeded to limit erosion. Michels will utilize any of the remaining topsoil for landscaping on Omro Road.
A gravel walking path is being built around the pond that will be connected to the new sidewalks on Omro Road. Other amenities, such as benches, bike racks, and even a pavilion are being considered for residents and visitors to use and enjoy. Much of the landscaping will be completed later this year and all remaining vegetation is scheduled to be planted in the Spring of 2022. A water fountain is not being planned for the pond but other water features are being reviewed for aesthetics and movement of water in the pond.
