Last fall, the contractor put down grass seed and matting in the terrace and lawns that were disturbed during construction. The matting was put down with plastic staples. The grass is taking root but unfortunately so are the weeds. Some residents are taking the time to push the staples down, trimming the matting that has rolled up, removing any debris, and mowing and weeding the newly seeded area. Thank you!! Other residents are choosing to pull up the matting and piling it up on the sidewalks and roadway. That is not acceptable. Omro Road is 1.8 miles in length, which translates to 3.6 miles of matted terrace and yards. The Town of Algoma does not have a Department of Public Works to assist with maintaining the landscaping. We are asking the residents with property on Omro Road to PLEASE take the time to mow and trim the terrace between the road and sidewalk and their part of the yard that were disturbed during construction to help keep the roadway looking attractive. The bulk of the matting will adhere to the topsoil as the grass grows.
