
Town Board
The Town Board meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month at the Algoma Town Hall (15 N. Oakwood Road, Oshkosh, WI 54904). Meetings start at 6:00 pm. Special Town Board meetings are held as needed and will will be posted at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.
The elected five member board is comprised of four supervisors and one Town chairperson. Each position is elected on and every other year basis to a 2-year term. The Board sets policy and approves resources for the implementation of the Town’s operating plans.
Economic Development Committee
The Economic Development Committee meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month at the Algoma Town Hall (15 N. Oakwood Road, Oshkosh, WI 54904). Meetings start at 6:00 pm. and will be held as needed.
This five-member appointed committee addresses any economic development inquiries that may be made by a developer, site sector, realtor, or business seeking to locate in the Town. Committee members would also make recommendations to the Town Board on future development opportunities or creating business development tools, such as a tax incremental finance district. The Town partners with the Oshkosh Area Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Oshkosh Economic Development Corporation. The committee partners with these two organizations to recruit businesses to the Town.
Planning Commission
Planning Commission meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at the Algoma Town Hall (15 N. Oakwood Road, Oshkosh, WI 54904). Meetings start at 6:00 p.m. and will be held as needed.
The Planning Commission is comprised of seven members appointed by the Town Chair. The Commission members are primarily responsible for reviewing certified survey maps, zoning changes, site plans, and plats and making a recommendation to the Town Board for approval. Since the Town is under county zoning, the Planning Commission works in conjunction with the county’s Planning and Zoning Department to ensure there are no issues that may affect the Town or county in future land-use decisions.
Parks Committee
The five members on the Parks Committee are appointed by the Town Chair. The committee meetings are held the last Wednesday of every month at the Algoma Town Hall (15 N. Oakwood Road, Oshkosh, WI 54904). Meetings start at 6:00 p.m. and will be held as needed
The Parks Committee oversees the Town’s parks and recreation areas. The five members make recommendations to the Town Board on improvements they feel are needed with associated costs. Examples may be playground equipment, walking paths, along with repairs and maintenance. This Committee will also oversee the update to the Towns Parks and Open Space Plan and the implementation of the plan’s stated goals. The committee may also propose to the Town Board policies that address safety or use concerns in the parks.
