About

Fire department fire trucks in open garage

The Town of Algoma Fire Department (TOAFD) has committed to serving the residents and property owners in the Town for over 80 years. The department currently has a roster of over 30 members. Over 25 of those members serve as firefighters and over 15 members are certified emergency medical responders (EMRs).

Along with providing fire protection and emergency medical services within the municipal boundary of the Town, the fire department has mutual aid agreements with neighboring communities, including the Omro-Rushford Fire Department and provides staffing for the City of Oshkosh during large fires within the city. These agreements are part of MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System). The agreements help ensure no one department is being depleted of all their resources, apparatus during one event and can also respond to other calls as necessary.

Burning Guidelines

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will limit burning when the conditions are not safe. Visit the WisBurn Website for more information and to check the most up-to-date fire conditions.

The Town of Algoma also has its own restrictions for burning. Please review the Open Burning Ordinance and contact the fire department with questions or concerns.
