The Town of Algoma is seeking applicants for a Public Works Director. This is a full-time, exempt position with health and retirement (WRS) benefits and allows for flexible scheduling depending on the season and duties being performed.
The job involves managing the daily operations of town public works, including:
- Planning, development, and maintenance of:
- Roadways
- Drainage
- Parks
- Traffic devices
- Facilities
- Easements
- Right-of-ways
- Significant administrative work (and limited fieldwork)
- Oversight of staff and contracted vendors
The ideal candidate is someone who:
- Is self-motivated
- Possesses strong communication skills
- Can provide excellent customer service
- Demonstrates a high degree of independent judgment and can make appropriate decisions regarding the priorities of the department and its operations
- Has knowledge of:
- Project planning and implementation
- Development
- Budgeting
- Capital planning
- Maintenance requirement documentation
- Applicable federal and state laws and regulations
- Municipal code compliance
